After hearing from several missionaries in Haiti about the need for dependable mail and delivery service, a group of friends in Bradenton, Florida gathered in Keith and Clara Starkey's living room to pray for a way to help. The result was Agape Flights. On November 15, 1980, Agape’s inaugural flight left the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport, bound for Cap Haitian, Haiti. The small Cessna 411 was loaded with donated emergency supplies and mail for about 25 missionary families.
Agape Flights
- Mission:Agape's mission is to serve Christ by meeting needs of missionaries that are not being met by their denominations, sending churches or other supporters. A gap exists between the perception and the reality of what is needed to keep a missionary family functioning effectively on the mission field, particularly in third world countries. While changes in technology, politics and the humanitarian needs of nationals require flexible programming, Agape's ongoing mission is constant: serving as a resource center to strengthen the ministry of families who serve the Lord by reaching out to those with spiritual and physical needs.
